你多半知道 wise 常作形容词，夸一个人“明智的”“有头脑的”：

a wise decision 一个聪明的决定

a wise investment 一笔精明的投资

对wise更熟知的同学，应该还知道两个短语：

get wise to … → 察觉（猫腻、不对劲的事）

be wise after the event → 事后诸葛亮

但你可能没留意，wise 也能当动词用 —— 不是“变聪明”，而是“认清真相、醒醒吧”。

比如：Wise up! = 别犯傻了，看清现实。

今天就聊这个：wise up。

20世纪美国警匪片，黑色电影对这个短语的大量使用，使得 wise up 普及开来，用于劝人别犯傻，别轻信，认清现实。

It’s time to wise up and stop wasting your money on things you don’t need.

该清醒了，别再拿钱买那些不需要的东西。

Wise up! You’re not a kid anymore.

醒醒吧！你已经不是小孩了。

Someone should wise him up before he gets cheated again.

得有人点醒他，不然他又要上当。

Wise up 后面接宾语时，需要与介词 to 搭配，表示认识到，察觉到（令人不愉快的实情）

It took him years to wise up to his friend’s true nature.

过了好几年，他才看清这位朋友的真面目。
