The Man and the Satyr
人和羊人
A Man had lost his way in a wood one bitter winter's night.
一个寒冷的冬夜，一个人在树林里迷了路。
As he was roaming about, a Satyr came up to him, and finding that he had lost his way, promised to give him a lodging for the night, and guide him out of the forest in the morning.
正当他四处游荡的时候，一个羊人走到他跟前，发现他迷了路，答应让他在这里过夜，第二天早上把他带出森林。
As he went along to the Satyr's cell, the Man raised both his hands to his mouth and kept on blowing at them.
当他走到羊人的住所时，那人把双手举到嘴边，不停地向它们吹气。
"What do you do that for?" said the Satyr.
“你为什么要这样做?”羊人问。
"My hands are numb with the cold," said the Man, "and my breath warms them."
男人说，“我的手都冻僵了，哈气能暖暖它们。”
After this they arrived at the Satyr's home, and soon the Satyr put a smoking dish of porridge before him.
等他们到了羊人的家里，羊人很快给男人端来了一晚冒烟的粥。
But when the Man raised his spoon to his mouth he began blowing upon it.
但男人把勺子举到嘴边时，他开始吹了起来。
"And what do you do that for?" said the Satyr.
“你这样做又是为什么呢？”羊人问。
"The porridge is too hot, and my breath will cool it."
“粥太烫了，我能把它吹凉。”
"Out you go," said the Satyr. "I will have nought to do with a man who can blow hot and cold with the same breath."
“你走吧，”羊人说，“我不愿意和一个反复无常的人打交道。”
